Three people were treated for injuries and two vehicles were totaled in an accident on a slippery Blue Earth County Highway 5 south of Kasota at 8:39 a.m. Thursday.
One of the vehicles was a Blue Earth County squad car.
The squad car was parked on the shoulder to assist individuals whose car had slid off the highway and rolled into the ditch. Occupants of that vehicle were waiting in the squad car.
A pickup truck passing by slid out of control and crashed into the squad car.
Treated and released from the hospital were Jessica L. Johnson, 24; Aeden Johnson, 4; and Kasey Johnson, 1, all of St. Peter.
They were passengers in the southbound 1999 Subaru pickup truck.
Those with no apparent injuries included Joshua J. Steinbach (driver of the squad car), 37, of Mankato; Raelyn Depyper, 26, of Kasota; and Trinity Depyper, 3, of Kasota. All three were passengers in the 2008 Ford Crown Victoria squad car.
Kasota Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene.
